The Law Office of John Spellacy recently launched a new website and brand created by Dan Gilroy Design. The project consisted of a new logo, accompanying stationery, and a new website.
A Melbourne, Florida criminal defense lawyer, John Spellacy specializes in defending people accused of DUI, felony, and misdemeanor crimes. He’s a local attorney, having grown up in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Of course, we wanted to create a website that emphasized his local ties and roots in the community. We did that by summarizing his life history on his bio page and populating the website with photos of John in recognizable places.
At the same time, we needed to create a website that struck a serious tone. A criminal defense attorney website needs to be serious as sometimes people’s very lives and livelihoods are at stake. We created a custom WordPress theme using courthouse and law enforcement-related images, plus strong headlines and messaging. We employed a conservative blue and white color scheme to underscore the serious theme.

One of the client’s goals was for the website to be a business generator. Accordingly, we prominently displayed contact numbers, free evaluation buttons, and contact forms throughout the website (see screenshot below).
In addition, the practice area pages include strong content, which is a boost for SEO. Links to each practice area page are displayed on every page of the website and in a drop-down menu from the main navigation. The website also includes a “Results” section that can be updated to display the most recent results or landmark victories.
